Windows 10 is Microsoft’s latest operating system for computers and devices. It was released to the public on July 29th 2015 and was offered as a free upgrade for its first year of availability.
With this offer coming to an end on July 29th 2016, we thought it might be a useful time to explain to you why we love Windows 10 so much – maybe you might just upgrade before the deadline!
- The Start menu
This was missing from Windows 8 but made a return in Windows 10 and it looks like an upgrade from the Windows 7 Start menu. Microsoft have added the feature of Live Tiles to this menu and these can be resized, dragged around or removed with the right-click button on your mouse. It’s flexible, clean and easy to use.
- The Multiple Desktops
These are virtual desktops which you can easily create and use to separate tasks. Just press the Win+Tab on your keyboard to access the Task-View and click on ‘New Desktop’ to create your virtual desktop. Once created, these can be accessed at the bottom in the Task-View. This feature is great for multi-tasking without cluttering your Task-View.
- The Battery Saver
This is especially useful if you are out and about with no access to a charger and limited battery levels. It will switch on automatically and will reduce background activities and push notifications to save the remaining battery level. In addition to this, you can control which apps you want left on and the ones you want switched off.
Cortana is a voice-controlled digital assistant. It lets you ask questions, book meetings in, search for particular files and much more. Cortana also lets you set reminders so you don’t forget those important events in your life. Not only this, it also tells jokes! It’s a smart and personal assistant and is available to both Android and iOS users.
- Quick Access
Taking the place of ‘Favourites’ in previous versions of Windows, Quick access shows you a list of locations and folders that you frequently visit. It is useful as you can see your recently opened files and is much quicker to find things you need and more accessible. It does what it says. It’s quick access to your recently opened and used files, folders and locations.
These are just a few of the many features that Windows 10 offers. To take full advantage of this new version of Windows, upgrade before 29th July 2016.
